Lml duramax crank no start.

19 posts · Joined 2009. #1 · Oct 28, 2014. OK I need a little help. I have an 08 I bought at an internet auction. Just got it to the shop and it has a no crank/ no start condition. I plugged in the scanner and it will not communicate with the truck. I have power and grounds at the dlc but no communication so no codes or data to give.Apr 11, 2018 · Apr 11, 2018. #3. Check the wiring really really closely going to the back of the truck. Wires going to the sending unit and the trailer brake system. Has trouble starting changed fuel filter and water separator was throwing low rail pressure code. Took to shop as problem persisted. Shop said they replaced a fuel line and fixed it, problem not fixed now truck will not start.If not most likely fuel pressure related. You could be losing psi because of severe items, The Cp4 has a regulator, one on the fuel rails, and the return system. Also, being a common rail system if any injector is hanging open. Hopefully the Cp4 is not failing, which is very common for all LML’s that don’t have an aftermarket lift pump ...

It's now a "Crank no Start" situation. I am replacing the injector return lines and regulator with new but am not sure that will fix the issue. If built before then the dealer should have applied the update whenever the truck was in for service -- imo especially if it was a start process complaint. The updated software takes about (iirc) 0.2 seconds longer crank before it injects fuel and starts.

Hey John, FYI I found out the injectors NEED minimum 1500 PSI of rail pressure to open, at least the LML with piezo injectors do, and I'd bet the older ones do too. LML wont start after D. 2015 LML and did a D for the dpf and egr. Downloaded the tune from a reputable tuner and cannot get truck running. It ran 1 time for 5 seconds then died. It just cranks and other times it clicks like a dead battery but both batteries are at 80%. I am stuck here no idea why it won't start or even crank sometimes.

Close the vent and pump it till the plunger won't move any longer. Once it is hard, try and start the truck. If it does not start, pump it til it is hard again and repeat as necessary.
